(CNN) After a major international incident occasioned by President Trump, even some of his original backers are calling for his impeachment. The House Committee responsible for such a process is finalizing its charges, sources on Capitol Hill say. The bipartisan measure is gaining speed, and is “inevitable,” the same sources say, as demands grow for it from the public at large as well. A number of spontaneous demonstrations have already taken place around the nation, with more “on the way,” those sources confirm, with calls for his impeachment “flooding our inbox,” one of those sources reported.
The incident that triggered the move was widely condemned internationally, with the strongest criticism coming from the nation of the NATO ambassador at the center of the outrage, Albania. “Picking one’s nose in public is a reprehensible act at the best of times,” one source from that country, who wished not to be identified, said; continuing: “But doing it while someone is giving a speech - and especially a representative of our nation, with our cultural sensitivities - is totally beyond the pale.”
“Outrageous” - “Most indecent” - “A monstrous Insult to our fair country” were just some of the quotes from that country’s public, other sources report from that nation’s capital.
