Basically very good stuff here, Brandon; vey worthwhile commentary. Just one caveat:
What is going on, on the Dark side, is a reverse image of the next stage of development for humanity, into the Light. Which is about consciousness-raising as well as physical exchange and wellbeing.
I am saying that "worldwide institutionalized interdependency" is not a bad thing per se. Just in the wrong hands, and for the wrong reasons.
One could say that God moves in mysterious ways, sometimes. Until one understand that there are laws at work.

This is classic Fabian socialism stuff: slowly slowly, until the wolves are deep amongst the herd of sheep, and then - pounce. In this case, TPTB got their frontman in a major position of power, with his pen and phone, and issuing all manner of illegal executive orders - and got away with it all, with the public apparently presuming that the Republicans in Congress would have yelled loud enough to stop all this unconstitutional stuff. But that's assuming that the Republican establishment is working for the American people. They aren't. Noticed yet? Even after TPA, and TPP, with TTIP just waiting in the wings? They are working for their moneyed elite masters - the same as too many Democrats, who have failed to look after the interests of American workers and the environment. All, to be swept away in the establishing of TPTB's vaunted New World Order, wherein the former U.S.A. becomes merely a part of an economic/trading zone, filled with low-wage workers from around the world, to heed the beck and call of their moneyed masters. And true Americans can't do a thing about it, because they were asleep at the switch, of their country from being a federal constitutional republic to being a plaything of the vipers ruling the world, who got rid of the Constitution one small step at a time.
And the next step? The UN coming in and taking away The People's guns, because a) that's what our main creditor nation, China, wants to happen before they start taking over all manner of our assets and resources; and b) their Small Arms Trade Treaty becomes law, because Obama & Co. say so. Because he is now a law unto himself.
All, while - and because - America slept its way into oblivion. Forgetting, that in a republic, The People are the sovereign. Not the state, whether in the form of royalty or clergy or oligarchy or outright despot. And as the sovereign, it was their responsibility to govern themselves. Or be governed, by a professional class. One bent on mischief.
There's still time to right that wrong. But barely.

* It is as well reported that the U.S. Marines & other military forces will be operating out of foreign ships, because Old Pen & Phone has taken monies from the military budget and spread it around for his favored subjects to lick up.
You can't make this stuff up.
And in the meantime, that low sound you hear in the background is not an air conditioner doing its thing. (Would that it were; cleaning the fouled air, of all corruption and such stench.) It is the sound of the collective turning over in their graves of the Founding Fathers of this nation......
