The Pelicans Don't Come By Here Anymore

On The Edge Of The Pacific
           At Sundown

The pelicans
Don't come by here
                 anymore.
      Well, every
 once in awhile
                  one
    cruises by
    fruitlessly
    and back
    again
    to a distant
    perch
       for the night.

    A sad
        sad
     sight...

      We really
       need
       to get
       our act
       together
       better
On this lovely
            planet
       sorely
       needing us
       to.
           Actually,
       desperately
       so.


And the cruise liner
         calls its catch
         from the shore.

And I go home
To my perch
For the night.

        As well
Unfulfilled.
