If I Ruled The World

If I Ruled The World

   Excuse me, Tony,
              for stealing
     your thunder, as
It were:
                  but if I
Ruled the world
I would put
Everything right,
       starting with
America
                where
Many things are wrong
Right now
                  starting
                  at
The top.
                 So, first
                     of all,
  I would declare,
       on the basis
Of current law
                        in
The nation, that
       the Usurper
Must go; and, like,
Now; and that
       everything
That the Great
Pretender
               has put
His name to
                   is null
And void.
Period.

And that's just for
A start.  And then I
Would take over
             the helm
Of the still sturdy ship
Of state
And steer it into
Better waters;
   the better waters
Of its rightful
Belonging

At the head of
            the fleet
Of such nation
States,
Becoming
One
The corrected-course
Way.

And then, over
                      to
The likes of you,
                   Tony
To sing of it
All, and fill in
The details
Of the New World
Blossoming.
Into its rightful
Scent;
             and not
            the stench
To high heaven
                  that
It is giving off
Now

   and that has attracted
The attention
Of many
Of God's creation;
To see it through
                          to
Its highest
Completion

in the larger
            scheme
Of things
Of which its experience
Is an important
Part
In our learning to connect
                     head
To heart.

May we fulfill
Our highest
Destiny
Beautifully
In this reality
And beyond.

So, sing us
Home
Tony; and all you
                     other
Troubadours.
           Sing us
           Home
Again

From our long journey
In the wilderness
Of our making

                to, ultimately
Strengthen us.
                            Not
Break us
Up
Into
Small
Pieces
of flotsam
and jetsam
Floating
In space
Eternally
Lost.

But found
At last

Within.
