On Illusion...

…And Deception

Commenting in my last blog on the fact that

"Nothing has to occur that we don't allow to occur"

has reminded me of a story, and a particular mentality, that I would like to comment on a bit further. 

Many years ago I wrote a short story about a young man who was at home watching a local National League baseball game being played on his TV when he discovered he was out of cigarettes - his only (known) habit - and decided, with the game droning on at that point anyway, to go out and buy a carton.  He happened to live near the stadium where the game was being played, and in driving by it on his way to his local supermarket, he 'saw' something curious: there were no cars in the stadium parking lot.  And then he 'heard' something curious: there were no sounds emanating from the stadium.  And then he noticed, in the near distance…

And so forth; the point being that the image he was (we are) being given on his (our) screen(s) didn't (don't always) conform to the reality.  That the reality of something is at least once removed from the perception of it; with many a potential slip between 'the cup and the lip' of our sensory neurons.  

In other words, we can be misled, even controlled, without our knowing it.

Fast forward to today's world, and various examples thereof.

Item: 9/11.  We were told - over and over again - that what we saw, and what happened, was that: 

   a) two airliners smashed into the Twin Towers, causing them both to 'collapse' entirely shortly later;

   b) another airliner smashed into the Pentagon; and

   c) another airliner smashed into the ground in Pennsylvania, having been aborted from its mission presumably to smash into either the Capitol Building or the White House; its attempt thwarted by the heroics of some of the passengers on board (as later 'confirmed' for us by a movie).

   Oh - and oh yes; another building in the WTC complex also come down that day, later in the afternoon; obviously from the fires 'raging' in it from debris from the two collapsing Twin Towers.

   All, almost completely false.

   "But - we saw the planes flying into the buildings.'

   Did you?

    Did you, really??

   Or did you see what you were led to see.  

   'But - the fight on that last plane - we all heard it.'

   Again, I ask you to consider:

   Did you really.  Or were you led to believe that.  

Item: the JFK assassination.  Those of us of a certain age saw: the JFK coffin being loaded onto Air Force One (after an altercation between the Secret Service agents and the Dallas hospital officials where JFK had initially been taken; the scene being reported as having been over who had the legal claim/responsibility to do the autopsy, with the S.S. agents wanting it done by, in effect, their people); the plane landing at an airfield near the Bethesda, Maryland Naval hospital where the autopsy was to be performed, and the coffin seen being offloaded into a waiting ambulance; and sometime later (there turned out to have been a bit of a 'wild goose chase' with the waiting press corps having been given a reportedly dummy ambulance to tail, 'to keep the whole thing from being too ghoulish,' as we were told by the TV studio anchors) the - a - coffin being offloaded onto the Unloading dock at the hospital, where it spent a short bit of time before being wheeled on into the hospital building, and JFK's body being subjected to an autopsy, and report thereof.

   Now, what did we actually see?  We saw:

   a coffin being loaded onto Air Force One at Dallas.  We can infer that JFK's body was in it from the facts that a) we saw the (a) coffin being loaded into an ambulance from the ER Trauma Room in Dallas and taken directly - with the press tailing the entourage - to the airport and the waiting AF One; and b) very likely Jackie took a look at her husband's body in the casket on their way back to the East Coast.  But here is where it gets intriguing.

     I'll cut to the case made by an astute young member of the public who wrote a book about his findings, called 'Best Evidence'.*  From the inspiration he gained by reading a book by Ayn Rand, about the desirability of 'checking one's premises,' he decided to subject the JFK Assassination story to closer scrutiny; and what he found was:

   a) that quite possibly, and more probably, what happened was that the press was sent on their 'wild goose,' diversionary-maneuver chase (which lasted for about 45 minutes) to cover the fact that JFK's body was spirited out of the other side of the plane in the deep dark of that night (only the main Exit was lit up, by press corps floodlights; that's all one could see.  I know; I watched it all); whisked to an alternative site for an emergency 'autopsy' to try to match the wounds with the cover story; and then sent on from there to the official autopsy site at Bethesda Naval Hospital, where it arrived

   b) in another casket from the ornate wooden one that his body had been originally put in back at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, and

   c) in a body bag.  Which it was not put in, back at Parkland Memorial.

There' s more to the story; but you get the drift. 

And I for one have been waiting for these perpetraitors' comeuppance ever since.

But to continue.

Item: the Gulf War.  Either, or both.  To hook the U.S., and its Western allies, into a war for hegemony in the Middle East; courtesy of, and for the wellbeing of, the financial Elite trying to run the world.  At one point, CNN portrayed its war correspondent as being filmed "live from Tel Aviv" on a rooftop and being personally under fire from Scud missiles being rained down on the city.  Except that it never happened.  It was being filmed against a blue screen somewhere in Florida (I believe was where it originated from, as was discovered later).  

   And complete with his donning a gas mask (and his sidekick donning a helmet) on camera as an alarm was sounding.  Cute touch, that, guys.

Not so cute:

Item: ISIS, and two beheadings on camera, designed to rile Americans into getting war-raging mad at those wild jihad-inspired Islamic terrorists.  Inconvenient truths: 

   a) the videos were blatantly faked;

   b) they were released through the business auspices of an Israeli woman who is undoubtedly a Mossad operative; and

   c) the head of the ISIS contingent is an Israeli.     

I could go on. But you get the picture.  As it were.

That we are being led about by the rings in our sensory noses by experts in the trade of 

creating illusion.
