The Storyteller, Whoever

   That Was,
      And Is,
   Precisely

‘Jesus in the wilderness
Being tempted by Satan.’
                              ‘Yes,’
‘Who’s telling the story.’
                         ‘What?’
‘Who’s telling the story.’
                            Why,
                               er,
         why, Jesus
Would be telling it.
To, someone.
Of course.  Yes.
               That’s
               it.’
‘Isn’t it more likely
That the person
Telling that particular
               story
                 is
The Storyteller
         of the whole
             thing.’
         …
                   ‘I
     am confused.’

          ‘Get used
            to it.  It
          goes on
            and on
            and on
          like that.
          Because
                   it
           was all
              just
        a story.
        Told us
               by
    the Flavian
       imperial
         family;
        in order
To make Titus -
        the Son
         of God
               (or
        at least
       the God
   of the day) -
           out
                 as
   the Jewish
   Messiah,
            come
To chastise them
   for continually
       rebelling
       against
       the yoke
  of the Roman
     emperor;
                 God
      in the flesh,
      as it were.’

   And still is
         to this
         day.

     And now
            no
         more.
    For, God -
      the true
           God -
    has ‘come’
       to claim
      His own.

  Which is us.
         Not
       Jesus.

And here endeth
    the lesson.

          In

     humility.
