Ancient History

The ancients knew more
                          than we
                           usually
                       give them
                         credit for.
             What about,
                                  for
                          example,
                      that battery
                              found
                    I think it was
                         in Turkey
                          that was
So old?  Primitive
                  but still
                effective.
                               Or so
They say.
           And what about
                the pyramids,
                along
The Nile
 And elsewhere?
                         And all
                  the myriad
                       of walls
                          found
                all over
            the world
With a precision
Of construction
             unparalleled
               to
This day?
               Or a watch
               or its
              equivalent
                             …
There is a catch
To it all:
It is more likely
Than not
That we
Were they
     and thus building
Our civilization
On our own
Shoulders.

                   It's like
                      clock
                      work…

                 Sing
             a song
     of sixpence,
   a pocket full
                     of
Wry.
