The Play, Perennially

     The Play

                  Barry
Soetoro - to say,
Barack Hussein Obama
In real terms -
Will stop at nothing
                to destroy
You and me and everyone
Who cherishes America
                                     even
              with a gunman
Behind every tree,
                    defending
Our essential liberty
As deterred the Japanese
In an earlier act
of the ongoing Play.

But wait.  Hold
The Drama.  I sense
That things are coming to an end.
Oh, glory.  Can it be??
And we return from whence
We came???
                          And I
Will be your friend
Again.
                         And you
Will be mine.
                        And we
Will simply BE.

It is to hope for
Endlessly
          instead
Of just perennially
Wherein we meet
As a pair of I's
On the other side
Of the barricade
            separating
Us from God

To say as well
Our highest Selves.
