from teaparty.org: 'POLL: 83% Believe English Should be Official Language' - Aug. 13 (orig. posted at rasmussenreports.com)
("Thirty-one states have made English their official language, and five more are hoping to join the club this year. The U.S. government has yet to take that step, even though Americans still strongly believe English should be the nation’s officially recognized language. Most also agree overwhelmingly that it’s important to know the language to get ahead in today’s world…")

For the past 200 years the English language has been the Official language of these United States. Legal Immigrants for the last 200 years have had to learn the official language. Only the usurpers and illegal invaders want to change it. Just try and go back to your own country and change their language...good luck there.

at one time in our country, it was required for a LEGAL immigrant to speak english before he or she was granted citizenship, they also had to demonstrate a certain amount of knowledgement about our country and a basic understanding of our government and how it worked. when did this change?

It is supposedly still the same requirement. I know; I checked on the language thing. And when I went to vote, I confirmed this with the lady in charge; and then asked her, "Then why is the ballot and the voting info all available in a number of languages?" She just shrugged, and simply encouraged me to vote. I REFUSE TO TAKE PART IN A CHARADE.
This nonsense has to stop, Our voting materials should ONLY be available in English. Anything less is an undercutting of the legal requirement for a naturalized citizen to be able to read and speak English. Also, the registration rolls need to be cleaned regularly, of dead people's names, and duplicate voters, and illegal voters, and so forth and so bloody ON.
TRUE THE VOTE. Or watch your nation be hijacked, before your very eyes.

..and while I'm on my soapbox; this today, to the Young Republicans National Federation, in response to their request for my financial support (and my responses to meaningless questions on a meaningless survey):
"Dear Jason [Weingartner],
"Until the Young Republicans wake up and tell the leadership of the RP that they are sorely mistaken if they think they can slip around the Constitution on the natural born citizen issue, and try to put their own illegal candidates up for the POTUS office - i.e., one not having been born on the soil of 2 U.S citizen parents - I will not support you. You are nation wreckers, just like they are, and the Democrats are. Shame on you all."
(signed)
And on the return envelope, I (a) sent it 'To the Personal Attn. of' Jason, as Chairman of the YRNF; and (b) noted, under my return address label, which (deliberately selected out of my stash of such labels, from various worthy causes) had U.S.A. on it: "NOT the North American Union,' with an arrow pointing up to the real thing.
The Republicans are apparently heavily under the influence of the New World Order crowd as well. Whether it's due to money talking, as with the moneybags behind the assault on the nation, or simply due to the social power of the (higher ranks of the) Masons, with their version of a New World Order in play as well - or both - I don't know.
All I know is that they are selling out the United States of America as well as the Marxists over on the Left.
And should hang their heads in shame.
Or, simply, hang.
The lot of them.
For selling this country short. Of its full potential. As the launching pad for
the REAL real thing.

(First of all, the 14th Amendment was never properly ratified; so it is not, properly, law. But even then:)

"…and subject to the jurisdiction thereof". Illegal aliens are not "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States. They are still citizens of their home countries; and are subject to THAT jurisdiction. And so are their children, as following the citizenship of their fathers.
This 'anchor baby' business that I have heard about is a scam, a con. Just because a child is born in the U.S. doesn't make him or her a citizen of the U.S. They are citizens of the home country of their fathers. If their parents are here illegally, that's tough on them, if they start growing up here. But it makes no difference: they are here illegally, and must return with their parents to the home country OF their parents, when we come to our senses, and 'send them back'.
We either live by the rule of law; or we will descend into chaos, and the rule of the jungle. Or the dictator, who says: 'I am the law.' Who said that; Obama? No; Hitler. Obama is just acting like it.
And shouldn't be allowed to get away with his illegality any longer. Both his presidency (he is not a 'natural born citizen,' did not have two U.S. citizen parents). And the illegal acts that he has engaged in while in that illegally obtained office. All the legislation that he signed into law; and all the Executive Orders and Presidential Directives that he has issued while illegally in that office; and all the appointments that he has made while there - out, with him, as the Usurper that he is.
And we get back to the Constitution. And the jurisdiction thereof.
