I think you misunderstood my comment. I was pointing out the error stating Ted Cruz was ineligible to run for president.
He is indeed eligible according to the Nationality Act of 1940,Title 3 Chapter 2 Section 320. To wit.
Sec. 320. [8 U.S.C. 1431]
(a) A child born outside of the United States automatically
becomes a citizen of the United States when all of the following
conditions have been fulfilled:
(1) At least one parent of the child is a citizen of the United States, whether by birth or naturalization.
(2) The child is under the age of eighteen years.
(3) The child is residing in the United States in the legal and
physical custody of the citizen parent pursuant to a lawful admission for permanent residence.

In this situation, we are not talking about a person being merely a 'citizen'. The issue has to do with something else: whether a person is a 'natural born' citizen or not. And THAT category requires being born of TWO U.S. CITIZEN PARENTS.
It all has to do with the Founding Fathers wanting to make sure that the office of the president did not have someone in it who had DUAL LOYALTIES OR ALLEGIANCES - as a dual citizen would have; particularly because said person was to be ALSO the Commander in Chief of the nation's military forces. And that's why that particular requirement was put into the Constitution for that particular office - and that particular office ONLY. It's not the same for any other federal office.
