A Work In Progress

I made a note in my workbook of something that I read yesterday that, in glancing at it today, I realized I had forgotten to indicate where I had come across it.  Precisely; not generally.   The 'generally' speaking of it was on a site called Golden Age of Gaia, which contains, mostly, a lot of channelled material, from various sources.  Various human sources, as the channelers, and from various discarnate entities.  Presumably.

What do I think of this sort of thing?

First, the quote that I wrote down; and then I'll get into this other subject.  Although, they're both related.

The quote: "The times you are living in call for truth, fairness, justice, and honor in all activities."1

Well; okay.  A good sentiment.  But do I believe in this sort of thing?  This 'channeled' business??

My most honest answer: I keep an open mind to the possibility of such a thing.  Even after having looked into the matter somewhat, and having found examples of untruth in the field, as 'things' unfolded.  And even with a personal background of being a basic skeptic.  (Which I am just about to get into.  Promise.)  But I also know the value of keeping an open mind in life.  Because, you never know.

So, to the issue of what to believe, and what not to believe, in life.

Years ago - more years ago now than I can even get my head around (or care to remember).  My god; can it be?  Nearly sixty years ago, now??  The mind boggles… - anyway.  As I was saying; before I  was so rudely interrupted, with the reminder of the passage of time: I had a Freshman English instructor at university who 'taught' me one of my most important lessons in and about life, that has seen me through the thick and thin of life.  It came about when I was about to leave formal schooling, at the end of my Junior year at that university, and go out on a specific search for capital-t Truth.  I had had a 'spiritual experience' - what I would call, more precisely, an awakening - earlier in the year,2 and, before starting out on my quest, traced down where my former instructor (he had made a deep impression on me, of the value and beauty of the English language, in both prose and poetry)3 had moved on to by then (it was to a college somewhere in the midwest, as near as I can recall), to tell him what was up for me.

An interesting way I have chosen to describe the matter, I note - I could have said "what I was up to," or "what was happening in my life" - because I don't think I was so arrogant, in my letter to him, as to presume to say that I knew 'what was [going to be] up for me'. 4  In any event, his reply, before I left university to go on about my way, was - besides to say that he was not surprised about my decision; for whatever reason, known only, really, to himself - to give me a bit of advice.  He wasn't sure of the name of the South American author-philosopher ("Calderon, I think), but the quote that he shared with me was: 'Of all sure things, the surest is to doubt.'

Of all sure things…I took it as a bit of friendly, avuncular advice; a gentle warning, not to take anything in life at face value.  Politics; religions; personal 'messages'…to doubt everything, until I could reach a point where a) it was proven, or b) I clearly sensed truth.  Because people, for their various reasons, have things they want to sell you…I have, since that time, looked behind/beneath the surface presentation of things as much as what was on their 'faces,' to see if I could see their roots in the truth of the matter at hand.  The whole truth; not just a possiblly facile truth.

I took that 'lesson' with me to New York City, when I left university and started my serious search - in the New York City Public Library; what I presumed was 'the largest public library in the Western world;' or at least close enough to it - for the truth of things, and with especial regard to the truth about Christianity.  Basically - at our historical remove - about the Christian religion, and its take on the original 'story'.  And came across a lot of doubts - serious doubts; serious anomalies; serious outright falsities  - about both.  And so I left it - all; edifice and presumed historical facts and figures -  behind, as I continued my search for the truth of things beyond the veneer, the false front, the facade that I was presented with at that time about a lot of things.  (This was circa 1955-56.)

As time went on, other facts about that particular 'religion' story presented themselves to me, as I again and continually 'checked things out' against my, and the, truth meter, as it were; for, to live a life truly dedicated to the search for Truth, one also has to doubt the doubts that come up along the way, and check them out as well.  And that re-check (not even just a double-check, sometimes) has happened for me a number of times over the years, especially regarding this particular issue.

To say, there have been many issues that I have shown my light of doubt - of a true truthseeker - on, to check them out as well.  More doctors smoke Chesterfields (or was it Camels??) than any other brand.  Fluoride.  Vaccines.  GMOs.  All false fronts, erected by people who have something to sell us, for various reasons.5  But let me continue with this particular thread of thought, on the 'issue' of Christianity.  Which involves, centrally, my main lessons in life.

The other of the two main lessons that have come my way in this lifetime,6 and that I have reason to believe I have learned, involved the assassination of JFK.  (I'll try to keep this telling brief.)

What was that really all about, I questioned even at the time; by then having cultivated a very suspicious mind - from the influence of my former English teacher, and other sources a bit earlier at that time in my life.7  Said suspicious mind - to say, constitutionally checking-things-out mind - having led me (particularly via the research materials of the John Birch Society) to the 'likes' of the controlling socio-econo-political forces behind the scenes, the facade, of everyday life.  Those powers wishing to erect their New World Order on this continent; and so forth and so on, along those lines.  Which involved as well - besides 'the communists' - powers of an international banker-industrialist-government nature.  In a word: fascism.  the far Right.  As opposed to the far Left, of socialism-communism.  Or - were they, so opposed to each other.  Or were they controlled at the top of the pyramid by the same Controllers…

Anyway, I decided to keep a close eye on the story of JFK's assassination as it unfolded; to try to suss out the real perps behind the scenes.  And that interest of mine - and with a keen eye for telling detail8 - was mirrored in the keen eye of one of the people who wrote a book about the incident, wherein he caught something interesting in the details.  In sum: 1) Their was a distinct difference between the head damage to JFK as drawn out on paper by an ER doctor at the Parkland Hospital in Dallas (and later confirmed by others at the scene), and the same wounds as reported at the autopsy in Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland; and 2) when the body was put in a (wooden ornate) coffin in Dallas and loaded onto Air Force One, it had been wrapped a bit with towels around his head wounds (and I think a sheet); however, when the body was unloaded at the Receiving dock at Bethesda, it was in a body bag, and inside a plain - different - coffin.9

The author of this book - 'Best Evidence,' by David S. Lifton - described his process of deduction as being inspired by something that he had read in a book by Ayn Rand, wherein she had recommended, as part of her Objectivist philosophy, that people 'check their premises'.  At the time of that reading, he recalled, he had had an amusing image of someone with a flashlight down in their basement, checking their premises;  but the philosophy - the point of awareness - stuck with him, and he realized, in analyzing the reports of the JFK 'story,' that there was something wrong with it.  As per the two sticking points above.

Life gives us plenty of opportunities to suss out a 'working' approach to it.  These are two of mine:

1) Of all sure things, the surest is to doubt; and

2) Check your premises.

I figure that, employing such tactics, I will get there.  Sooner, or later.

Example. Many channelers these days are reporting that we are near a life-changing Event.  ('Soon' has been used to comment on it.  And in one instance, even that it is, quote, "imminent".)

Maybe.  Maybe not.  I'll keep an eye on the matter.

Example. As indicated, I don't (presume to) know a lot of things.  I can surmise things.  One of which is that you cannot advance on your spiritual path10 if you have been living a dishonest life.

Barry Soetoro, for example, has been living a dishonest life.  Therefore, he cannot advance, in the present state of things.  Even if others are about to experience a life-changing Event.

Or not.

And then there is another example of the application of this philosophy in today's mail (actually, yesterday's; just being gotten around to today.  For accuracy's sake in this report of the facts of the matter), wherein I received a mailing talking about "prophecy and end times events," offering me a book to help me "understand the events we see unfolding" all around us.  Before our very eyes; so to speak.

What do I think of this??  Especially after all that I've been through on the subject, of the Bible's - or at least, the New Testament's - authenticity???

All I know is, I'll keep an open mind on the subject.

Because, you never know.

1 In going back to the site to check its source out, I found that it was Hilarion, as channeled by Marlene Swetlishoff.  Hilarion is an Ascended Master.  Presumably.  (www.therainbowscribe.com)

2 I have described this event in at least one previous blog.  See earlier pages in my electronic journal, if you are really interested.

3 At the end of the, my Freshman, school year, he quietly asked me to stay after our last class for a moment, when and where he gifted me with a copy of the complete works of John Donne.  Dedicated, simply, to me, "from his English instructor.  June 1953."
To Barney Childs.  For his inspiring tutelage.  From a grateful, and attentive, former pupil.  December 2013.
And grateful for all the help I've been given along the way.
Along - as Frankie would say - MY way.
That's Frank Sinatra.  For you younguns.
Who - which will come as a surprise to some of you - still have a thing or two to learn about in life.
Like truth.  And fairness.  And justice.  And honor.
Wherever the 'inspiration' for those lessons come from.

P.S. And when I presume that a lot of my readers don't know about 'Frankie': Do I exaggerate??
Example.  Jack Paar was the leading late-night TV talk show host for many years.  He had only been retired for a short while when his still very young daughter came home from school one day and reported that when she had told a good friend that her father had been said big big name on TV, her friend replied, genuinely surprised: "Really?"
     I kid you not.
P.P.S.  And on the note of the timeframe of 'a short while,' I realize that that can be a relative period of time, depending on who you are, and where you come from.  Many of the channeled entities these days have been predicting major change for humanity - an Event - to happen, quote, "soon".  …But I digress.
     A bit.

4 Which I was incautious enough to share with my dorm roommate, in a farewell note to him, as I left for the train, on the beginning of my journey away from my formal education.  To say: to share what I felt was going to be up for me, in my life.  Having a presentiment of -
     what.  Greatness??
     No.
     Of responsibility.
And I'm going to leave this thread of thought at that.

5 Vaccines apparently started out on an honest note.  But hubris crept in very early on; when more people started coming down with smallpox in heavily-vaccinated populaces than in non-vaccinated ones.  'The people,' hearing reports amongst themselves, started adding one and one, and avoiding the shots.  But, Doctor knowing best, the practice endured.  And expanded.  And expanded.  And expanded…regardless of the downside to them.  Because said profession is looking just for 'herd immunity'.  Not at the individuals involved.  Who have come down with an extensive litany of side effects of the vaccines.
And then, there is, of course, the drug companies. Whose job it is to make money.  For themselves.  And for their stockholders.  The pharmaceutical industry being one of the biggest players on the world financial markets…
but don't get me started.  On these, the sorcerers of our day.
     As castigated in the Bible.
     Oops…
…well.  As I say: keeping an open mind is a good thing.
And not throwing the baby out with the bathwater is another one.

6 The subject of reincarnation I have subjected to considerable scrutiny.  And it has passed my truthometer test.  Hands down.  And though I continue to keep an open mind on the subject - for further info to come out about it - enough is in, in our time, not to doubt any longer its truth.
As far as I am concerned.  Nor could any other reasonable person.  Unless their ego gets in the way of their truthometer, casting a shadow on it, and they can't read it so well.  To say: won't.

7 Especially from reading Whittaker Chamber's autobio 'Witness,'  which put a face to the amorphous 'Communist threat' of the time - that there were people, including high up in our nation's government, intending to overthrow said government, and merge the U.S. into their intended international Communist empire.
That was my first real exposure to that particular thread of thought.  (I read it during the summer after my first year at university.)  From then on, I kept my eyes open regarding said subject further than I ever had before.  Thus, I wasn't surprised, when more and more along these lines began to leak out into the open, on our mainstream news outlets.  Regardless of how the Left tried to paint it all as 'Reds under the bed' scaremongering.  I was onto their tactics by then.
This was all a couple of years before my 'spiritual experience' during my third year at university turned my attention elsewhere.  For a time.  Truth being what it is, it came up again.  And again.  And again, along my way in life…

8 When I was living in NYC haunting the Main Public Library for facts about Who We Are and What Life Is All About, I came across a book about the Sumerians, who seemingly were the first peoples of modern civilization - with the cultivation of cereal, and all; and, intriguingly, of the art of writing (primitive though it was.  To our eye) - and who depicted, on their clay cylinders (rather ingenious of them; don't you think??) their 'gods' with a star over their heads.
They had a clear way of depicting their own kings.  Which did not involve a star over their heads.
Interesting… - but, to continue.  As I did then on my search for answers as to our natures.  And with this thread of thought now.
     Same search.
     Ongoing.
But about to come to a resolution point.
     Presumably.

9 In checking out this anomaly further, he found out that there was a time gap - of about 45 minutes - between the time that Air Force One landed and the time that an ambulance arrived at Bethesda Naval Hospital with a coffin with JFK's body-bagged body in it.  There was a cover story: that the ambulance driver from Air Force One/the airport went on a bit of a wild goose chase to try to lose some reporters following it.  (Why would he do that??  Ah.  That's a detail.  No one looks at details anymore.)  Which time gap allowed the body to be spirited out of the other, non-illuminated side of Air Force One (it was very dark when it arrived) to another hospital (this was probably Walter Reed Military Medical Center, nearby), for cover-up surgery, and then sent on its merry way to Bethesda, by the perps.
O what a tangled web we weave...

10 which we are all on; have.  For, if reincarnation is a truth -  and there is considerable evidence, in our time, that it is (all of which is too much to go into here and now, for the purpose of this particular blog) - then there is Plan in and Purpose to life.  And there is every indication that that Purpose is Good.  From the quality of the feelings associated with the 'higher' emotions; and the reports back from individuals who have been 'on the other side' - as in a Near Death Experience - and have reported back on the quality of the experience; and so forth.
Some conjecture there.  Some assumption.  Worth acknowledging, that that is all it is.  But so many reports, all reporting the same, essential thing…
Sooner or later: it all adds up.  For even the most skeptical of us souls in incarnation… us aspects, facets, fractals of The One……of a universe built up on and from a single geometrical form; as our scientists are finding out, and reporting on, in our day……….
