Under New Management

The lesson for today.

If you pay single females to have babies, and raise them, on the taxpayers' dime, they will.

If you don't pay single females to have babies, and raise them, on the taxpayers' dime, they won't.

And to take this lesson - on Incentive, and the lack thereof - a little further:

If you pay people to treat Alzheimers' disease, you will get Alzheimer's disease.  If you don't pay people to treat Alzheimer's disease, you will soon get no more Alzheimers' disease.

If you pay a lot of people a lot of money to treat cancer, you will get a lot of cancer.  And if you don't pay a lot of people a lot of money to treat cancer...you get the picture.

And to speed up the process, of creating a truly intelligent society:

If you pay some people a regular stipend to keep you healthy, and if you fall ill, you get treated on their dime - you truly get the picture.

And that's the lesson for today.

N.B. It is the same sort of thing that Lao-Tzu remarked on 2500 years ago, when he made the observation:

'The more rules and laws, the more thieves and robbers.'

Or to put it another way:

The more doctors and hospitals, the more illness and disease.

Tomorrow I'll have another lesson for you.   In the meantime:

Go out into Nature.  And observe.
