Speaking of Marriage...

(gentle knock heard on door)

Come in……Ah, 1-2-3-4-6: Come in, come in…Have a seat.

(meekly:) Yessir.

So.  Have you considered more thoroughly what we were talking about yesterday?

Yessir.  Two plus two equals five.

Yes; that's it.  And?

You're asking me if I agree?

That's the question, 1-2-3-4-6.  And your answer?

Well; I hear you.  Sir.

But all you do is hear me.

It's just that - it's so……

Come come, 1-2-3-4-6.  It can't be that 'hard', if that's the word you were looking for.

Well.  Sort of.  I mean…Let me try to get this straight.  Sir.

By all means, 1-2-3-4-6.  You will be here until you do.  Or not.

…I'm not sure what that means either, but…I'll try again.  'Two plus two equals five' because…they're not numbers.  In this sense.  Is that right?  Sir?  -

Good, good.  All right so far.  And?

- Because if I held up two fingers, and two fingers; like this…(holding up the middle finger of each hand) - I mean, like this…(holding up the outer fingers of each hand) - we're not taking about 'fingers,' or numbers.  Are we.

All right so far.  And?

And…because…they're just words.  In the sense that you're using them.  Right so far?

Good, good.  And so…?

And words…mean……..

Good, good.  Go on.  And?

Yes yes?

- Whatever you say they mean.

Good!  Excellent.  You've got it!  Well done, 1-2-3-4-6.

And so, if I say, that you are a fucking asshole, that doesn't literally mean -

Ah, 1-2-3-4-

- calling you a fucking asshole only means what I mean it to mean -

You can't know what's in my mind when I call you a -

- fucking asshole, so it doesn't actually mean -

Leslie and Ryan: Excellent article. I agree wholeheartedly.

America is changing before our eyes. It was founded on, and actually is still based on, the concept of the rights of the individual over the power of the state. Now, we are witnessing the Fabian slowly-slowly change of the nation into a socialist system, where any rights of individuals is overridden by the [coercive] power of the state. It is not right, and must be stopped. In the meantime, We the People have to figure out how to get around the diktats of the state. Successful stories should be passed on. People may even have to move interstate, until reason prevails.
